Foods to avoid with new veneers
Short answer: Do not bite straight into hard or crunchy food such as apples, carrots, hard bread or tough meat. Cut it up and chew with your back teeth. Expect some sensitivity to hot and cold after fitting.
Confirm with your surgeon. These are general activity limits from published aftercare guidance. Your clinic's written instructions always come first, and they may be stricter or looser for your procedure.
Cut up or skip
- Apples, carrots and other hard raw fruit and vegetables: slice them.
- Hard bread and crusts: tear into small pieces.
- Tough meat: cut small, chew at the back.
- Ice, hard sweets and nut brittle: skip.
- Corn on the cob: strip the kernels off with a knife.
Mexican street food with new veneers
- Tostadas and totopos: ask for ceviche in a bowl with crackers you can break.
- Elote: order esquites, the same corn served in a cup.
- Marquesitas: crispy and best left until you are used to your veneers.
- Frozen margaritas: sip slowly if your teeth are sensitive to cold.
Turkish street food with new veneers
- Simit: tear it into small pieces instead of biting into the ring.
- Balık ekmek: eat the fish with a fork and leave the crusty bread.
- Lokum and baklava: fine in small bites; skip nut brittle.
Temporaries need extra care
Between preparation and final fitting you have temporary veneers, which come loose more easily. Avoid sticky sweets and do not grip a snorkel mouthpiece with your front teeth. Guides: Cancún · Istanbul · Antalya · Tijuana
