When can I fly after breast augmentation?

Short answer: Most surgical teams want you near the clinic until the first wound check, commonly one to two weeks after surgery, and long-haul flights in the first week are generally discouraged. When you fly, you must not lift your bag overhead.

Confirm with your surgeon. These are general activity limits from published aftercare guidance. Your clinic's written instructions always come first, and they may be stricter or looser for your procedure.

Planning the stay

  • Book 7 to 14 days so your wound check fits before the flight.
  • Book a changeable ticket in case your surgeon wants to see you again.
  • Travel with a companion who can carry the bags.

On the day you fly

  • Check your case in and keep a small bag under the seat.
  • Ask cabin crew to lift anything into the overhead bin.
  • Choose an aisle seat, walk about every hour and drink water.
  • Keep the support bra on, as your surgeon says.
